Atop The Uinta Mountains
June 3rd, 2024
When Wanderer journeyed to the Uinta Mountains on June 3rd, 2024, to watch the Parade of Planets, she wasn’t just chasing a celestial event—she were chasing perspective. As the planets slowly revealed themselves in the vast dark above Northern Utah, Wanderer felt small, disconnected. The silence of the mountains wrapped around her like a held breath, and with it came a rush of awe, humility, and a bittersweet longing they couldn’t quite name.
Then came the flicker of movement—an unidentified light gliding with impossible smoothness across the sky. It ignited a surge of fear and exhilaration within Wanderer. There was no other explanation other than we were not alone. In the boundless, immeasurable nothing, we were not alone. Her heart pounded; her skin prickled; time stretched thin. She watched the light split into three until they disappeared behind the mountains. The experience left her trembling yet electrified. Outside of our field of view existed something else—something we don’t understand. That night innovation sparked.
